September 26, 2012, 12:52 pm

A local man has been jailed for 18 months after he appeared in court charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm during an incident in Kidderminster.

Matthew Oliver, aged 23 (date of birth 25/08/89), from Hurcott Road in Kidderminster, appeared before Worcester Crown Court for sentencing on Monday, 24 September.

He pleaded guilty in August to assaulting a man outside Lazio’s Pizza in New Road, Kidderminster, in the early hours of Sunday, 20 May.

The 24-year-old victim was left with a fractured jaw and went to Kidderminster Hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Phil Christie from Kidderminster CID said: “Violence of this kind will not be tolerated. We take these crimes very seriously and people who commit such acts should realise that they will be prosecuted by the law and risk losing their liberty.”
