Update Horwich arrest update

A 38-year-old man arrested in Horwich on suspicion of possessing indecent images and an offence of possessing written material, under the Terrorism Act, has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Superintendent Steve Nibloe said: ” When dealing with any complex case like this it is imperative that all the evidence is properly examined.

“Some items recovered have been sent off for examination and this will take some time. In the meantime I want to reassure residents in Horwich that the safety of the public remains our top priority and the scene remains open today.

“We are still in the very early stages of what is likely to be a lengthy inquiry and searches are continuing today.

“This work is likely to continue over the coming days and we once again thank residents for their patience and understanding.

“I also want to again reiterate the point that there is no indication that anyone is in any immediate danger and there is no need for residents to be overly concerned. We are working with our partners to ensure disruption continues to be kept to a minimum.”
