It is believed some kind of weapon was used in the attack, possibly a machete.
Officers attended and discovered a 35-year-old man with multiple injuries to his head and a 26-year-old man with injuries to his hands.
Both were taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary for treatment before one of the males was transferred to Wythenshawe Hospital for further treatment. None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.
Three men aged, 35, 26 and 36 were arrested on suspicion section 18 assault and remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Gary Ashurst of Wigan CID, said: “We share the communitys shock that such violence was used during a dispute on a residential street.
“I want to reassure residents that we dont believe anyone in the wider community was put at threat by this incident and that we believe this is entirely isolated.
“That of course does not lessen the impact of an incident like this happening in their midst and that is why we are working hard to piece together exactly what happened.
“We made a number of quick arrests and are speaking to witnesses. Also, if you know what happened or saw anything suspicious on Tuesday night in this area then please get in touch.”
