Raiders rob shop staff at knife

September 6, 2012, 11:45 am

Two staff members were threatened by a man holding a knife in Salford.

Just before 6pm on Saturday 1 September 2012, the man walked into the Clarks shoe shop on West One Retail Park, Eccles and approached the counter

He walked behind it where the two staff members were working and demanded they gave him money. He held the knife to one of the victim’s neck.

The offender took money from the till and cash boxes before he left. He was seen getting into the passenger side of a silver hatchback car and drove off.

No one was injured.

The man is described as being white, in his 30s and of medium build. He wore a black balaclava that had a two eye and mouth hole cut into it, black padded bomber jacket, black gloves, blue jeans and black shoes. He spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Justin Bryant from the Volume Crime Team said: “Both women were terrified after this man threatened them with a knife. The victim who had the weapon held to her throat is understandably shaken.

“It is obvious that the offender had set out that evening to rob the shop and I would ask anyone who was at the retail park at that time who saw anything suspicious to contact us. If you saw a silver hatchback car outside Clarks with two people inside, either before or after the incident, we are keen to hear from you.”
