Warwickshire: Police Arrest Man On Suspicion Of Rugby Footpath Robbery

Following an allegation of robbery that took place at approximately 7.45pm on Friday 14 September in Rugby, police have today arrested a 34-year old man.

The robbery took place on the pedestrian bridge over the canal near Mill Road in Rugby. A woman walking towards the reservoir was confronted by a male, who was carrying a knife in his hand. He demanded that she hand over her shopping which she was carrying in two carrier bags. She ran from the scene, dropping her shopping bags as she fled.
Following an investigation into the incident the 34-year old man was arrested in Rugby this afternoon (Friday 21 September) and is currently being questioned by police in relation to the incident.
Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident and ask that anyone who was in the area of Mill Street, Rugby, or who was on the footpath near to the canal on Friday evening (14 September) , and who saw anything suspicious, should contact the Local Investigation team in Rugby on 01788 843769 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where the information can be given anonymously.
