Northumbria Police: Two teenagers arrested following an attempted robbery

Two teenagers have been arrested following an attempted robbery in Sunderland.
Police were called at just before 11pm on Saturday, September 15, that a 53-year-old man was assaulted in Victoria Road after challenging two youths trying to steal a woman’s handbag in Victoria Place, Washington.
The injured man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment to a head injury. His injury is not described as life threatening.

A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of assault.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
