Northumbria: Police support charity run

September 26, 2012, 9:41 am

Brave Northumbria officers will attempt to run cross country in under 24 hours in a relay race to raise money for a children’s charity.

On Saturday, September 29, seven officers – mainly from Gateshead Area Command – will start at Workington in Cumbria and run a non-stop relay across the country, finishing at Roker beach in Sunderland.

They will aim to complete the 130-mile Coast to Coast run in under 24 hours.

The charity run aims to raise money for the Cash For Kids charity – which helps local children and young people who are suffering abuse and neglect, who are disabled and have special needs, or who need extra care and guidance.

The team has already undertaken previous events to raise money for the charity as the son of one of the officers suffers from Muscular Atrophy.

Taking part are Sgts Mark Hindhaugh and Andy Richardson, DCs Paul Challoner and Dave Hodgson and PCs Rob Crawshaw, Graham Yare and Paul Cuthertson. They will be supported by CSO Stewart Dixon, who will be on his bike.
