Women arrested after human remains found

Detectives investigating human remains found in Tooting Bec Common have arrested a woman.
Police were called at approx 08.00hrs on 10 September to reports of human remains found at a location in Doctor Johnson Avenue, Tooting Bec Common SW17.
A post-mortem examination took place on Wednesday, 12 September, at Great Ormond Street and was unable to ascertain a cause of death. The remains are thought to be those of a newborn baby born in the previous two weeks.

The baby is white but the gender has not been ascertained.
Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating led by Det Ch Insp Mark Dunne.
On Monday, 17 September, a 36-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of concealing a birth.
She was taken to a south London police station and subsequently detained for a period of four weeks under the Mental Health Act.
