Merseyside Police: 4 Arrested at Liverpool game

Merseyside Police can confirm that four men were arrested during the game between LFC and Man Utd on Sunday, 23 September 2012.

Those arrested were as follows:
  • A 22-year-old man from Manchester was arrested inside the stadium on suspicion of breach of the peace.
  • A 31-year-old man from Knutsford was arrested  inside the stadium on suspicion of criminal damage.
  • A 22-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested outside the stadium on suspicion of theft and ticket touting.
  • A 19-year-old man from Manchester was arrested outside the stadium on suspicion of theft.

All those arrested were taken to police stations on Merseyside for questioning. The 22-year-old man from Manchester arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace was bound over. The other three men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

After the end of the game as the stadium was emptying, a LFC supporter was ejected after making an offensive gesture to the Man Utd fans.
No arrests were made for chanting and the game passed peacefully with the vast majority of the fans behaving impeccably throughout the game.
