Police are appealing for witnesses following a house fire in Bury.

September 17, 2012, 5:46 pm

At 1.20pm on Thursday 13 September 2012, police were called to Hollins Lane, Unsworth to reports of fire.

The fire service extinguished the flames and no one was hurt.

A 23-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life has been released without charge.

Detective Constable Mick Yates, of Bury CID, said: “This fire was deliberately started and while no one was injured it would be no exaggeration to say that the person responsible could easily have killed someone.

“Starting fires is reckless and dangerous and we need to find the person responsible.

“If anyone was in the area Hollins Lane area on Thursday morning and saw something suspicious or has any information about who might be responsible I would urge them to contact the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 8150, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
