Detective Constable Mick Yates, of Bury CID, said: “This fire was deliberately started and while no one was injured it would be no exaggeration to say that the person responsible could easily have killed someone.
“Starting fires is reckless and dangerous and we need to find the person responsible.
“If anyone was in the area Hollins Lane area on Thursday morning and saw something suspicious or has any information about who might be responsible I would urge them to contact the police.”
