Shop manager held captive during robbery

September 21, 2012, 10:04 am

A store manager was held captive by armed thieves during a raid in Wigan.

At about 5.45am on Wednesday 19 September 2012, three offenders armed with a spanner entered McColls on Warrington Road and threatened the manager.

They stole cash and cigarettes worth several thousand pounds.

The offenders loaded the stolen items into a red estate vehicle, that was driven by a fourth offender and which was on the car park.

Two offenders were wearing dark grey clothing underneath a high visibility sleeveless jacket. Another was wearing a light grey tracksuit. All had their faces covered.

Detective Constable Lynsey Watson, said: “The store manager was held captive for about 15 minutes and is understandably shaken by what has happened.

“He was just doing his job and the offenders have not thought twice about threatening and intimidating him in order to get their hands on some cash and cigarettes.

“If anyone knows the offenders, has information about the vehicle involved or hears anything in relation to the stolen items please get in touch.”
