Essex Police: Fifteen year old boy charged with GBH and ABH against to Essex Special constables

A teenage boy has been charged with five offences following an incident in Saffron Walden in which two police officers were injured.
The officers, both Special constables, were assaulted at about 6.30pm on Monday September 17 while arresting a youth in connection with a burglary which happened last week and an earlier assault on a member of the public.
A 32-year-old officer is still in hospital and was undergoing surgery on an ankle broken in three places and the other officer, aged 43, was allowed home after hospital treatment for a hand injury but he is expected to require surgery later.

A 15-year-old boy from Saffron Walden was last night charged with causing grievous bodily harm, causing actual bodily harm, assault by beating, handling stolen goods and breaching an interim Anti-Social Behaviour Order.
He was detained in police custody to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court this morning, Wednesday September 19.
