Devon & Cornwall: Police refer death of Plymouth man to the IPCC

A 62 year old man was stopped shortly before 3pm on Thursday 20 September in Wolseley Road, Plymouth by a police officer following a routine incident. During this contact the man collapsed and officers carried out CPR on him. He was then taken to a local hospital and life was pronounced extinct at 4.17pm. His next of kin have been informed.
As is usual in cases like this where a death occurs after police contact, this incident has been referred to the IPCC who will review police actions and decide whether to investigate or pass the case back for local investigation.
