Devon & Cornwall: Detectives in Exeter begin rape investigation

Police are investigating a reported rape on a woman in Exeter and are appealing for witnesses.
The incident occurred sometime between 1.00am and 2.00am this morning, Tuesday 25th September in a lane that joins Sidwell Street and King William Street near to St Sidwells Church.
The location of the scene remains cordoned off whilst police continue their enquiries.

Police spokesman said: “This is the early stages of the investigation and there is very little information we can share at this stage. Right now detectives will be gathering all the details they can which will include carrying out interviews and forensic analysis.
“I would like to ask for the publics help though, for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the vicinity of this incident in the early hours of today, no matter how small it might seem to them, to contact us without delay.”
Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and ask that they contact them on 101 quoting police reference 59 0f 250912.
