September 25, 2012, 10:05 am

Detectives investigating the murder of a woman in Somercotes have renewed their appeal for a person who may have bought a puppy from the victim to come forward.

Jade Riley-Ward, was found dead at a house on Burke Drive, Somercotes, on Saturday, September 22.

A post mortem examination revealed the 30-year-old had died from multiple stab wounds.

A 22-year-old man is still being questioned on suspicion of her murder.

He was arrested on Saturday but was then taken to hospital. He remained in hospital until yesterday afternoon (Monday, September 24).

Officers would still like to speak to a potential witness who may have contacted the victim on the day she died about the sale of a puppy.

Detective Inspector Karen Pearson, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “I would again like to thank the local community for their continued assistance with this investigation.

“However, I want to renew my appeal to a potential witness who we believe may have had contact with the victim on the day of the incident in relation to buying a puppy.

“We are still very interested to hear from this person and would urge them to come forward as any information they have could be important to the investigation.”

An incident room has been set up at Alfreton and anyone who has any information that may help the police investigation should ring 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
