BTP: CCTV released after Bank Quay bag theft

Officers from British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to about the theft of a rucksack.

The theft took place at about 11.10am on Monday, 27 August, on board a train at Warrington Ban k Quay rail station.

As the train (the 9.30am London Euston to Glasgow service) pulled into the station the bag was stolen from the overhead luggage rack.

It was discovered – with £300 having been removed – later that day on-board the following Warrington to Glasgow Virgin rail service.

PC John Phillips said: “As a result of our investigations to date we have identified the woman in the CCTV images.

“I believe she has vital information in relation to the theft and want to trace her as soon as possible.”

He added: “If you recognise her – or have any information about the theft – please call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
