Sixteen year old arrested on suspicion of murder

September 20, 2012, 10:52 am

Officers investigating the death of Luton teenager Delaney Brown have arrested a 16-year-old youth on suspicion of murder.

The teenager came into custody yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) and was released later the same day on conditional police bail. He is the second suspect to have been spoken to and bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers from the Major Crime Unit continue to trace witnesses and seek information to the murder of 19-year-old Delaney who was killed in Vincent Road when he was struck by a silver BMW 1 series on Wednesday September 5, 2012.

Attempts to trace a young woman with two children who was pushing a buggy along Vincent Road at the time of the incident also continue. Further enquiries have established that on hearing the collision she ran to help, possibly speaking on the phone to paramedics, as opposed to walking in the opposite direction which had been previously suggested. Anyone who knows her, or the woman herself, is urged to contact the police.

DCI Steve Collin from the Major Crime Unit said: “We are making real progress with this case but I still need people to come forward and put what they know down on paper. People clearly have information about who was driving the silver BMW that was used to kill Delaney, they now need to do the right thing and speak to the police.”
