Appeal to trace road rage driver
September 10, 2012, 3:56 pm
A man who narrowly missed knocking down a young family assaulted the father when they tried to remonstrate with him.
At about 1.20pm on Friday 24 August 2012 the family – two parents and a three-year-old son – were crossing the road near to the Stocks pub on High Street, Walkden.
A white van came round the corner and narrowly missed all three of them. The driver shouted abuse at the boy before pulling up at a nearby bus stop.

The driver then got out of his van and marched up to the parents, berating them inches from their faces.
He then started to argue with the father, which resulted in them grappling on the ground, during which the victim suffered minor cuts to his head and knee.
The offender then got back in the van and drove off in the direction of Manchester Road.
He is described as white, 5ft 11in tall, of heavy build with a large belly, cropped fair hair, with a clear complexion and was wearing a white vest and shorts. He had a fully tattooed left leg and partially tattooed right leg.
PC Nigel Sayers, based at Swinton, said: “We really need to find this driver: not only did he nearly hit a family who were crossing the road, but he took huge offence at their complaints and returned to scream abuse at them.
“He shouted at the young boy, berated his parents then ended up grappling with the father. All in all this was a violent, unprovoked attack on an innocent family by a man with some clear rage issues.
“This happened on a busy street on a Friday lunchtime so I am confident there would have been people about who could tell us exactly what happened.
“If you were there and saw the incident, or you recognise the man in this description, then please get in touch.”
