Among the items of jewellery stolen was a distinctive gold badge that has a red devil and white angel on, a six strip diamond ring and a gold ring with a nine diamond cluster.
It is thought the thieves may have used a quad bike to transport the stolen safe.
Police Constable Steve Whiteley, from the Volume Crime Team, said: “The victim, a retired woman in her 70s, is devastated that her home has been ransacked and her savings and jewellery stolen.
“The safe would have been bulky, heavy and difficult to transport and we believe the offenders used a quad bike or similar vehicle to escape – a sight not easily forgotten by anyone who may have seen the offenders.
“I am therefore urging anyone who saw something suspicious, has heard someone talking about this or been approached by someone selling the items to get in touch in complete confidence.”
