A man suffered serious head injuries after being assaulted in Tameside.

At around 5.15am on Saturday 8 September 2012, the 22-year-old man had been drinking with friends and was inside a car travelling along Dowson Road, Hyde when an argument broke out.

The car stopped, and the victim and offenders got out and walked past the Shell Garage.

At this point, the victim was assaulted.

He received a broken jaw and a head injury and was found by a passer-by who phoned the ambulance.

One man, a 30-year-old, was arrested on suspicion of Section 20 assault and has been bailed until 7 November 2012.

Police are now looking for a second man in connection with the assault.

Detective Constable Anna Barker from Tameside CID said: “The victim has been left with serious injury and is currently in an induced coma and breathing through a ventilator.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the assault or saw a silver Audi car in Dowson Road area, to come forward.”
