The womans Gucci handbag and Gucci watch were stolen during the burglary.
The man is described as white, around 25 years old, approximately 5ft tall. He was of slim, athletic build and had black close cropped hair, thick black eyebrows and blue eyes. He wore a black sweatshirt and black tracksuit bottoms.
Sergeant Ric Hunt from Tamesides Burglary Unit said: “This woman has been left distraught after she came home to find this man in her house.
“Not only had he stolen several valuable items from her, but he even had the audacity to speak with her and laugh, leaving her feeling absolutely violated in her own home, a place where she should feel safe.
“We are asking for anyone that may recognise this man from the efit, or who may have seen someone matching this description on the evening of 22 July, to get in touch with us.”
