Four teenagers were threatened with hammers during a robbery in Tameside.

Between 11pm and 11.30pm on Wednesday 15 August 2012, the group of friends, aged 16 and 15, were sat in a field at Beyer Peacock football club, Kershaw Lane, Audenshaw when they were approached by three men.

The men were holding hammers and demanded they handed over their mobile phones or else they would be attacked.

The phones were given to them before all three ran off towards the canal path running parallel to the football pitch.

No one was hurt.

All three men are described as being white, in their early 20s, between 6ft and 6ft 2in tall, of slim build and wearing dark clothing and black balaclavas.

Police Constable Donna Eastwood from the Volume Crime Team said: “The group of friends were minding their own business when these men walked up to them and threatened them.

“Obviously the victims were terrified and gave in to the offenders demands as they did not know whether they would be seriously hurt.

“If anyone was near the playing fields at the time of the robbery or saw the men running along the canal path, I would ask you to contact please.”
