Detectives investigating how a man came to be found in the River Croal are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Shortly before 5.45am on Sunday 5 August 2012, police were called to the River Croal near to Back Spa Road North, Bolton.
Emergency services attended and a 40-year-old man was rescued from the water. He was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries and remains in a stable condition.

Detective Sergeant Rob Parker said: “We are still investigating how this man came to be injured. Despite our efforts, we are still unable to say for certain what the circumstances may have been. ”
We are therefore unable to rule anything out. “I therefore ask that anyone who was in the area in the early hours of Sunday 5 August to come forward if they feel they may have information that may assist our inquiries.”
