A woman has been charged following the death of two-year-old in Bolton

A woman has been charged following the death of two-year-old Rio Smedley in Bolton.
Kirsty Smedley (born 09/10/1988), from the Bolton area has been charged with allowing or causing the death of a child.
She appeared before Bolton Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 8 August 2012 and is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square tomorrow, Thursday 9 August 2012.

At about 5.45pm on Sunday 22 April 2012, police went to a house on in, Bolton, following reports that a child had gone into cardiac arrest.
The child was rushed to the Royal Bolton Hospital by an ambulance crew where he died.
A post mortem examination concluded that Rio died from severe abdominal injury.
