A man has been charged with murder following the death of a toddler in Tameside.

Ben Raftery (born 21/09/1991) from the Gorton area has been charged with murder. He is due to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court today, Thursday 16 August 2012.

Shortly before 12.45am on Saturday 10 March 2012, police were called by the ambulance service to an incident at Elizabeth Street, Ashton-under-Lyne.

Two-year-old Roxie Jo-Anne Archer had sustained a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment, but sadly died on the evening of Sunday 11 March 2012.

A post-mortem examination found that Roxie’s cause of death was a head injury.
