A 60-year-old woman was attacked and robbed of her car from a car park in Salford.

At about 1.20pm on Thursday 30 August 2012, the woman was getting bags out of her car boot after parking at Mocha Parade in Lower Broughton.

A man approached her and demanded the keys to the Vauxhall Insignia. He then attacked the woman by punching her, dragging her to the ground and then kicking at her a number of times as she lay helpless.

The offender got the keys to the car and drove off in it, with the boot still open.

He drove along Lower Broughton Road then Bury New Road in the direction of Bury.

The offender is described as being white, in his early 20s, about 6ft tall and of slim build. He was wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans and was wearing a black rucksack.

Detective Sergeant Julie Connor said: “This man needs to be caught as soon as possible.

“He attacked this woman in broad daylight in a busy car park and injured her just to steal her car. There were many people around who came to her aid but some left before police were able to speak to them.

“I urge them and anyone else with information to call us.”
