Police are investigating after a man suffered stab wounds in Newton Heath.
At around 1.35pm on Thursday 16 August 2012, police were called to Shortwood Close, Newton Heath following reports a man had been attacked with a machete.
On arrival, officers discovered a 35-year-old man had suffered serious injuries to his hand, head and arm.

He was taken to hospital where his condition is described a serious.
Chief Inspector Sarah Jones said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and would like to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.
“We would also like to reassure residents that we do not believe this was a random attack and they should not be overly alarmed. Additional patrols are in place in the area.
“At this time, we do not believe that this incident is connected in any way to the death of David Short last week. ”
